Section Assessments Overview
How to use the AI red teaming section assessments, scoring methodology, and recommended completion order.
Section Assessments
These assessments are designed to validate your understanding of key AI red teaming concepts across each major domain. Each assessment contains 15 multiple-choice questions calibrated to an intermediate level -- you should be comfortable with foundational terminology before attempting them. Use the results to identify knowledge gaps and direct your further study.
How to Use These Assessments
Choose Your Assessment
Select an assessment based on the section you have recently completed or the domain you want to test. If you are new to the curriculum, start with the Foundations assessment.
Answer Without References
Attempt all 15 questions without consulting course materials. This gives you an honest baseline of your retention and understanding.
Review Explanations
After submitting each answer, read the explanation carefully -- even for questions you answered correctly. The explanations often contain nuances that reinforce deeper understanding.
Score Yourself
Use the scoring guide at the bottom of each assessment to evaluate your readiness. Each correct answer is worth 1 point for a total of 15.
Revisit Weak Areas
For any questions you missed, revisit the corresponding section material and study guides before retesting.
Scoring Methodology
Each assessment uses a consistent scoring rubric:
| Score | Rating | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 13-15 | Excellent | Strong command of the material. Ready to move to the next section or apply concepts in practice. |
| 10-12 | Proficient | Solid understanding with minor gaps. Review explanations for missed questions. |
| 7-9 | Developing | Foundational knowledge present but significant gaps remain. Re-study the section before proceeding. |
| 0-6 | Needs Review | Major gaps in understanding. Return to the section material and complete the study guide before retesting. |

Tips for Success
- Time yourself. Aim for roughly 1 minute per question. If you are spending significantly longer, it may indicate shaky understanding rather than a tricky question.
- Watch for "most correct" answers. Several options may be partially true. The correct answer is the most complete and accurate response.
- Pay attention to qualifiers. Words like "always," "never," "primary," and "most" are important -- they narrow the correct answer.
- Use the study guides. Each domain has a corresponding study guide that distills key concepts and common pitfalls.
