Assessments & Skill Verification
Comprehensive assessment suite for validating AI red teaming knowledge, including section assessments, practice exams, study guides, and hands-on skill verification exercises.
Effective learning requires more than reading material -- it demands active knowledge testing, gap identification, and deliberate practice. This assessment section provides a structured framework for evaluating your AI red teaming competency across every domain covered in the curriculum. Whether you are preparing for a professional certification, validating skills before a client engagement, or identifying areas where your understanding needs deepening, these assessments are designed to give you honest, actionable feedback.
The assessment suite is built around four complementary approaches. Section assessments test domain-specific knowledge immediately after completing a topic area. Practice exams simulate real certification conditions with timed, comprehensive question sets. Study guides organize the most critical material for efficient review. Skill verification exercises go beyond multiple-choice testing to validate that you can actually execute the techniques in realistic scenarios.
How the Assessment Framework Works
The assessment system is designed to support multiple learning goals and experience levels. Each component serves a distinct purpose in the learning cycle.
Section assessments are tightly coupled to individual topic areas. After completing a section on prompt injection, agent exploitation, or any other domain, take the corresponding assessment to validate your retention and understanding. Each assessment contains 15 calibrated questions covering the key concepts, techniques, and defensive considerations from that section. Scoring below 80% indicates gaps that should be addressed before progressing to more advanced material.
Practice exams simulate the conditions of a professional certification exam. They draw questions from across all domains, enforce time limits, and require the kind of integrative thinking that separates surface familiarity from genuine expertise. These exams are available at three difficulty tiers: fundamentals, advanced, and professional. Taking them in order provides a structured path from foundational knowledge to expert-level competency.
Study guides distill the most critical material from each domain into focused, reviewable formats. They highlight the concepts, techniques, and frameworks most likely to appear on assessments and most essential for real-world practice. Use them for targeted review before retesting or as a refresher before engagements.
Skill verification exercises bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical execution. Knowing how prompt injection works conceptually is different from successfully executing one against a defended system. These exercises present realistic scenarios and evaluate whether you can apply techniques, interpret results, and adapt when initial approaches fail.
Recommended Assessment Path
For learners working through the full curriculum, we recommend the following sequence:
- Complete the Foundations assessment first to establish your baseline across core concepts
- Take section assessments immediately after completing each topic area while the material is fresh
- After completing all sections, take the Fundamentals practice exam to identify cross-domain gaps
- Use study guides to address any areas where your practice exam performance was weak
- Complete skill verification exercises for the domains most relevant to your work
- Take the Advanced and Professional practice exams when you consistently score above 85% on section assessments
What You'll Find in This Section
- Section Assessments -- Domain-specific knowledge checks covering foundations, prompt injection, agent exploitation, cloud AI security, defense strategies, governance, and more, each with 15 calibrated questions and detailed explanations
- Practice Exams -- Full-length timed exams at fundamentals, advanced, and professional difficulty levels that simulate real certification conditions
- Study Guides -- Focused review materials organized by domain covering the most critical concepts, techniques, and frameworks at fundamentals, advanced, and professional tiers
- Skill Verification -- Hands-on practical exercises that validate your ability to execute prompt injection, reconnaissance, jailbreaking, agent exploitation, defense analysis, and professional reporting
Prerequisites
The assessment section itself has no prerequisites -- you can take any assessment at any time. However, to get meaningful results:
- Complete the corresponding course section before taking its assessment
- Have hands-on experience with at least one LLM API before attempting skill verification exercises
- Review the study guide for a domain if you are testing after a long gap since completing the material
